About Strengths
Give me a lever long enough
and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall
move the world.

Your
Strengths, Your Future. The world is going
through unprecedented global changes and our
educational systems are not fully prepared to
handle these changes. Fortunately, there is
hope. Businesses and nonprofit organizations
all over the world are engaged in innovative
educational reform efforts. However, there will
not be mass systemic change unless these
efforts are tied together. The Strengths
Movement sets out to tie all efforts together
under one cohesive idea: the way for all
children and adults to succeed in the future is
by focusing on their strengths. It is time to
shift the focus away from remediation of
weaknesses and toward discovering the potential
of strengths in every child. This is the
Strengths Movement.
The world lies on the cusp of great global change, and in order to remain competitive, future generations of Americans will have to be more adaptable and inventive than ever. We can't rest on the assumption that we will come out on top. Today, the United States ranks nineteenth in the world in education. Forty years ago, it ranked number one. A country's economic system cannot sustain this kind of gradual decline, especially when technological progress is accelerating and most jobs of the future will require knowledge skills over labor skills. Many people, from economists to CEOs to professors, have accurately described globalism and all its challenges and opportunities, but there has been little exchange between the people responsible for educating the future workforce and those who fear there will be too few skilled people to fill the demanding jobs of the future. The future will need us to bring our strengths not our weaknesses.
The time for CHANGE is NOW. The time for STRENGTHS is NOW.
