Purnell School

The Purnell School in Pottersville, NJ is at the heart of the Strengths Movement. The Affinities Program, a four year curriculum for each student to discover their interests and strengths, was created and first implemented here by Jenifer Fox and the school's dedicated teachers. A girls boarding high school, Purnell focuses on the success of every student. The school takes girls from a wide variety of backgrounds and helps them find success and discover and what they are best at doing.

Purnell graduates have described Purnell as the single "best thing to ever happen to me." The school is college preparatory, teaches hands-on, innovative units and has a strong support system in place that allows each student to feel integrated into the community and an important person in her own right. The school has an exceptional performing and fine arts department and many graduates go on to professional careers in the arts.

Purnell emphasizes that all students are capable of learning. The school's instructional methods allow students to discover their own learning styles and to become proactive in their learning process. Classroom requirements and activities are supportive of the development of effective study habits. Instruction is thoughtfully designed to help girls find their passions, and explore paths to learning that will lead to success in college and beyond.
