Education Reform
The
Strengths Movement believes that given the
changing demands of both our society and the
workplace, schools need to fundamentally change
to adequately prepare students for the future.
A focus on unspecified achievement or on
standardized test results does little to help
students discover the areas of their lives
where they will make the greatest contribution.
Recent education policy has put us on the wrong
track. The Strengths Movement believes that any
program to engage students more fully in school
by helping them discover areas of interest and
motivation will produce both higher achievement
and greater engagement.
Policy makers in
Washington are out of touch with the school
experiences of most parents and teachers. The
conversation about education has been notably
absent from the presidential campaign this
year. Moving forward, the Strengths Movement
will pursue a specific legislative agenda to
push for more sensible educational policy. In
the meantime, contact
your congressional representative or your
senator to tell the story of what is
happening with your children and your
schools.
